In the second quarter of 2010 a number of important orders from JSC "Motor-Sich" on the manufacture and delivery of science-intensive metal products were carried out. The pilot plant of the Powder metallurgy laboratory made a lot of VPr-24 nickel-based powder braze alloy. The Laboratories of physical metallurgy and press and forging production rendered a technological assistance on forging high-temperature alloys (made by JSC Dneprospetsstal) under conditions of JSC "Motor-Sich". The Laboratory of computer-aided metallography started works on the actual quality control of aviation bearings. The Foreign Department made the first lot of high-speed steels ordered by the Procurement Department of JSC "Motor Sich".

On the institute's joint initiative with ZMKB Progress the International meeting on aviation bearing steels was held in October in Zaporozhye. The meeting was headed by the President of association "Soyuz Aviatsionnogo Dvigatelestroeniya" (ASSAD), Mr. V.M. Chuykov (Moscow). Representatives of Samara plant of aviation bearings (Samara, Russia), OAO TsIAM, OAO VIAM, NVPO Salut (Moscow), GP Zarya-Mashproekt (Nikolaev), GP UKRNIISPETSSTAL, OAO Motor-Sich, ZMKB Progress (Zaporozhye) took active part in discussion on improvement of performance properties of EI347 steel up to the level of M50 foreign steel and higher. A draft resolution including proposals on cooperation within Russian-Ukrainian program on aircraft engineering has been prepared.
As of October-November this year the dynamics of the financing of research and pilot works in the institute are characterized with considerable decrease of contract values with special metallurgy and pipe industry enterprizes. The level of financing from machine-building enterprizes, private companies and Minprompolitiki remains stable. General crisis resulted in lower number of foreign economic and scientific and technical orders. According to the most pessimistic estimates this month the output will be 80-100% of that in October indicating on 20% contribution of domestic metallurgy in the financing of institute's works. It is planned to increase cooperation with Ukrainian machine-building enterprizes to compensate losses.
